Barbara Sawh
September 12th, 1940 – June 10th, 2020
”Our beloved friend and colleague, Barbara Sawh passed away on June 10, 2020. Barbara was a Founding Member of the Marco Depestre Foundation of Ottawa, a long-standing Board member, and the Foundation’s Vice President since September 2011. Her passing is a huge loss for the Foundation where she worked tirelessly for the betterment of lives in Haiti through the fostering of its projects and programs. She was actively involved in the organization of the Foundation’s fundraisers, and prepared her signature spicy Caribbean dishes to be served at them. She will forever be remembered by all whose lives were touched by her generous spirit.”
Join Our Team
We were created to support initiatives in Haiti. Since its inception in 2011, the goal of the Marco Depestre Foundation has always been to support projects to foster positive changes in the lives of rural residents in Southern, Southeastern and Western Haiti, and impoverished areas of suburban Port-au-Prince. We support initiatives including Disaster Relief in areas of Poverty, Education, Health, Potable Water and Agroforestry training and practices. We finance our activities through fundraisers, sponsorships of children as well as from donations received from supporters. Our work is through cooperation and partnership with the Marco Depestre Foundation of Haiti.
Message from the Board of the Marco Depestre Foundation of Ottawa
The Members of the Board of the Marco Depestre Foundation of Ottawa thank you for your generous donations. Funds will be used to provide humanitarian aid to some of the many families affected by the terrible earthquake, followed by the torrential rains of tropical storm Grace. Thanks to the cooperation of the Marco Depestre Foundation in Haiti, we are able to distribute such essential items as Tarps, Aquatabs, kitchen utensils, particularly in rural regions of Jérémie. Please accept our heartfelt gratitude.
